June 6, 2010:

• TEAM ADVANTAGE Take Lancaster By Storm!
  
  Great weekend for ADVANTAGE MMA!!! Friday night, Juan Vazquez won by split decision and is now the 165lb WARRIOR CHALLENGE CHAMP!!! Saturday, ALL of our competitors took 1st Place in the WARRIOR CHALLENGE Grappling Tournament except for one 2nd place.  We also took 1st in the Team Competition!
  CONGRATULATIONS TO:
  
  Dougglas: 1st place, unscored upon and received his Blue Belt.
  Sean: 1st place and hasn't been able to make class in the last 2 months
  Lorraine: 1st place in a very tough bracket.
  Jamall: 1st in his division and 1st in Absolute.
  Gene: 1st place, the kid is just plain ol' TOUGH! A throw-back!
  Vincent: 1st place, SPEED, POWER, STRENGTH PERSONIFIED!
  Jason: 1st in 2 divisions. Very great job!
  Tom: 2nd in Executive Advanced

April 26, 2010:

• the "Sweet Science"ADVANTAGE Schedule.
  
  We added Boxing two nights a week...Mondays, 6pm to 7:30pm and Wednesdays 7pm to 8:30pm!   Also, Mondays Gi Jiu Jitsu class is now on WEDNESDAY from 6pm to 7pm

April 11, 2010:

• Jamall & Juan WIN in "LOCKED IN THE CAGE III"
  
  WHAT A NIGHT! Advantage MMA fighters Jamall Johnson & Juan Vazquez were both victorious at "Locked in the Cage III" in Philadelphia. Juan starts it out with a unanimous decision win in his debut fight and Jamall won via "verbal tapout!"
  Good Time Had By All!  the night was a success...we got to see some old friends, and made some new ones, along with tons of positive connections with people in the MMA community.
  
  I want to Congratulate and Thank Juan & Jamall for their hard work preparing for the fights AND for their awesome efforts in the cage!
  I also want to thank our coaches, team members & friends of ADVANTAGE MMA for their help in getting our fighters ready:

March 24, 2010:

• Jamall & Juan Prepare for "LOCKED IN THE CAGE III"
  
  Advantage MMA fighters Jamall Johnson & Juan Vazquez are fighting at "Locked in the Cage III" in Philadelphia.  Training has been unbelievable...as well as the support from all the coaches, team members and SPA members.
  When Juan weighs in, he will have lost 101lbs since his 1st day at Advantage.
   
• The Incredible Melting Man!
  
  As stated above, Advantage MMA fighter will have lost 101lbs when he weighs in at Locked in the Cage on April 10, 2010.  As of this date, he has lost a total of 97lbs...down from 271lbs!  Juan came to Advantage MMA after a long gap between his high school days spent at Advantage Wrestling Academy.  His goal from the start was to shed the weight, and fight within a year...well, its been about nine months!  This is Juan at start weight of 271lbs and very close to fight weight of 170lbs:
     AMAZING!

  Sammy "the Bull" Martello & Bobby "EB" Kaczak Received their BLUE BELT in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu
   
• Preparation is the Word!
  
  Our Team has been very busy preparing for notable upcoming events...
  Bobby "EB" Kaczak has been training harder than ever (didn't think it was possible for him to match the level he trains at, let alone exceed it!) for his long awaited Amateur Debut with NEW BREED FIGHTERS.  Come down to Resorts in Atlantic City on October 3, 2009 and support Bobby.
  We also will be sending our Team up to Lancaster PA for Grapplers Quest Northeast Grappling Championships SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 26TH 2009
   

August 3, 2009:

• Sun-n-Fun in Wildwood: NAGA "Battle at the Beach 10"
  
  ADVANTAGE Grapplers take Wildwood by Storm!  The North American Grappling Association held its tenth installment of the "Battle At The Beach" in the Wildwood Convention Center.  The fact that quite a few ADVANTAGE members made the trek down the shore is a testament to our instructors.  It also shows that the foundation has been laid and we're building the premier mma academy in New Jersey.
  ADVANTAGE MMA would like to congratulate the following for their accomplishments in Wildwood:
  
  Jess Stewart: Women's No-Gi Division 1st Place
                       Women's Gi Division  3rd Place
  Mr. Dan Kelly: Men's Masters Gi Division 1st Place
   

July 28, 2009:

• ADVANTAGE MMA Competitors Keep Busy on 07/11/09!
  
  ADVANTAGE MMA had fighters in the Cage for New Breed: One Step Closer XXIII.
  Ed Carruthers, fought at Resorts Casino-Hotel, while Bobby Kaczak had to sit out for his New Breed debut (his opponent did not make weight).  Ed fought hard and let it all out in the cage but unfortunately did not come home with a win.
  ON THE MAT, at the GOOD FIGHT: Cherry Hill Challenge, Sammy "the Bull" Martello placed 3rd in Adult Men's Gi: White Belt Division and at Grapplers Quest: UFC 100 Fan Expo out in Las Vegas Coach Tom Loperfido took 2nd in the Masters No Gi Beginner Cruiser Weight Division.
   
• UFC 100
  
  Tom Loperfido planned a trip to Las Vegas to celebrate a special birthday for his wife Nancy.  Being big MMA and UFC fans, Nancy asked if they were going to see a fight live and DID THEY!
  Not only did they see Brock Lesnar dominate Frank Mir, and GSP show why he is considered to be (by many) the best P4P fighter in the world, they also got to see one of the most brutal KO's in UFC history...Thanks to Dan "Hendo" Henderson. 
  While hanging by the Mandalay Bay pool and walking in the casino, Tom and Nancy had the pleasure of speaking with some of MMA's finest...notably Kenny Florian, Rich Clamenti and the Champ, Mike Brown.  All three fighters were more than gracious to take the time to talk and even give well wishes to the birthday girl.
  Mike Brown spoke very highly of ADVANTAGE's very own Jamal Johnson, who moved to Fla to train with American Top Team and his best friend Carmelo Marrero.  Keep Jamal on your radar!  He is training for his pro debut and we're hoping its in NJ.

• ADVANTAGE FIGHTERS RELOCATE TO FLORIDA & TEXAS
  
  ADVANTAGE Coach Santos Caban and ADVANTAGE Competitor and Former National Champ, Jamal Johnson have relocated to South Florida.  Coach Caban took a position with a new company and Jamal moved to train with ATT and his best friend and former teammate, UFC veteran Carmelo Marrero.  Instructor and BJMBJJ Alumni Jesse Briggs is protecting our country and its borders with the same tenacity that earned him a brown belt in BJJ.  We wish them all, the Best of Luck and Much Success!

April 6, 2009:

• Martello Competes in NAGA
  
  Sam Martello competed at the North American Grappling Association and went one and one. Sam submitted his first opponent by guillotine choke.  In his next match Sam missed making the medal round due to a rear naked choke.  One thing is for certain, "Sammy's" heart and desire are hard to match! 
   

March 9, 2009:  

• Carruthers Carrushes!
  
  At New Bread Fighters March 7th "One Step Closer" event, ADVANTAGE MMA's Ed Carruthers needed only 1:04 in the first round to down his opponent with a quick right hook. Ed went to work early with a series of leg kicks and knees from the clinch. After buckling his foe with a knee to the abdomen Ed quickly took his back. The Ref stood them up after complaints from the crumbled combatant that the knee hit him in the groin. After being warned by the Ref to watch the low blows, Ed stood toe to toe with his lanky adversary and put an end to him!
